+Episode 37+ Kevin Shulman & Thomas Fenton

This week on Disturbing Talks… We dip a little into some DOUBLE DRAGON, whisper “they’re here” with POLTERGEIST, and Kevin wows us with his Ray Liotta impression.

We sat down with two amazing, and knowledgeable dudes: writer, director, producer, and movie fanatic, Kevin  Shulman and Thomas Fenton.

Manson
THE FAMILY (2017)

Kevin is responsible for over 100 different music videos, for chart topping artists, such as:  Three-Six Mafia, Jason Derulo, and Omarion. The majority of his videos are responsible for garnering views in the millions and have been aired on the BET Worldwide, as well as MTV. He was the first director tasked by the rapidly expanding, independent juggernaut, Marvista Entertainment, to helm their foray into genre features. The film was completed in May and will be distributed world wide at the end of 2016.

He has a vast knowledge of the horror genre and a firm grasp on what it takes to bring future horror films back to the spotlight. One such film, is the upcoming film, THE FAMILY: from the amazing AMERICAN PSYCHO team, consisting of director Mary Harron and writer Guinevere Turner. The film will take a different approach to the story of Charles Manson. Instead of focusing on the character of Manson it will focus on the story of three ladies who were under his control — and the deprogramming afterwards. The film will be based off of the book ‘The Long Prison Journey of Leslie Van Houtem’ and is scheduled to come out in 2017. The well of knowledge that is available to Kevin, with which he is able to pull from, is remarkable. We here at Disturbing Talks look forward to all projects culminating from this phenomenal talent.

Thomas has been a fan of film since he was a kid. He started making films — of various

SAW IVgenres — and decided at a young age that this is what he wanted to do. Thomas has been heavily involved behind the scenes with the SAW franchise, but in particular, he wrote one of my favorite sequels of the bunch… SAW IV. It starts off with the autopsy of Jigsaw and in the process of the examination a tape is found — already 3 sequels in at this point, the tape signals the start of the fun. Most of the film plays out like a cop, procedural, flick and features a horrific end for Donnie Wahlberg. Thomas currently has two very awesome projects on the horizon: one with Eli Roth and Crypt TV involved, tentatively titled BLOOD BROTHERS; and the other being a TV adaptation of the video game, DOUBLE DRAGON — which I cannot wait for. I used to play the arcade version non-stop — and caused a lot of my youthful angst in the process. Bit of trivia for you, Thomas was involved in the original film, with Scott Wolf, and has now come full circle to create a modern version.
